The Castle of Thiene

Thiene Castle is considered the most notable 15th-century, Gothic building raised in the Vicenza area for civil use. It is an extraordinary example of a pre-Palladio villa, the only one of its kind and a benchmark in the evolution of the Veneto villa.

The most complete expression of the Veneto Villa in terms of architecture was made in the 16th century with the buildings of Andrea Palladio (1508 – 1580). He managed to synthesise the aesthetic and functional needs of a kind of villa that then remained essentially the same until the fall of the Venetian Republic in 1797. But Palladio did not invent the concept of the villa: he updated the forms this farming residence had taken on over the previous centuries.

Guided tours all year are dedicated to discovering our history and architecture, by different way: the various rooms of the castle preserve its original character with furniture, paintings and intact frescoes. Furthermore, it is possible to expand your visit to the castle’s private rooms, hich offer a glimpse into the aristocratic lives of the past.

For all levels’ school are available different programs, making art history accessible and interesting to even the youngest visitor.

The ample indoor spaces, such as the Neo-Gothic styled portico and the many adjoining rooms with decorations from the period, offer a molteplicity of solutions for each events.

The many rooms can be transformed into workspaces for client meetings or for hosting conferences. The extensive courtyard and substantial loggialend themselves to hosting concerts and large events.

Each year, in the Castle of Thiene, two highly anticipated events happen!In early September, VIRIDALIA , which is dedicated to natural gardening with selected exhibitors from Italy and abroad: showcasing exotic plants, flowers, and essential tools for organic and biodynamic cultivation. In mid Novembre, CHRISTMAS TIME event offers a showcase of artisanal excellence with lots of gift ideas for your home, loved ones and pantry.

In the heart of the Castle, tourist are able to  book a stay in our fully furnished apartment, decorated with antiques and historic paintings allowing our guest to live the experience of staying in a prestigious gothic estate.
